Beginner's Guide to Karting

BEFORE YOU RACE

Everything You Need to Know Before Hitting the Track

At Central Arkansas Karting Complex, our Rules and Regulations are in place to ensure a safe and positive experience for every visitor. The good news is that no prior racing experience is required to enjoy our rental karts — you just need to meet the requirements for the kart you’ll be driving. All drivers must meet the listed criteria with no exceptions.

For the RT10 Adult Rental Karts, drivers must be at least 55 inches tall and 18 years of age. (As of March 25, 2024, drivers between the ages of 14–17 who already had a registered racer account at CAKC are exempt from the age increase.) Drivers as young as 14 with a hardship license are also eligible. A valid driver’s license, permit, or hardship license is required for all RT10 drivers. Closed-toe shoes must be worn, long hair should be secured, and loose clothing or scarves that could get caught on the kart are not permitted. Any driver under 18 must also have a legal guardian present to sign the CAKC waiver.

The 2-Seater Kart allows passengers ages five and up who are at least 42 inches tall. The driver must be 16 or older with a valid license or permit. As with the adult karts, closed-toe shoes are required, long hair should be tied back, and loose garments are not allowed. For younger racers, the Cadet Kart is designed for drivers ages 8 and up who meet the 52-inch height requirement. The same safety rules apply: closed-toe shoes are mandatory, long hair must be secured, and no loose clothing is allowed.

On the track, safety always comes first. Bumping or running into other karts is not allowed, and unsafe driving, poor behavior, or failure to follow instructions will result in the loss of driving privileges. Drivers must always listen to the track staff, and the use of alcohol or any other substance before racing is strictly prohibited. Helmets are provided and must be worn at all times, with head socks required underneath (available for purchase at $2.50). Gloves are optional but recommended during colder weather and can be purchased for $4.
